The founder stated that before 1975, the Ede people in Krong Ana district (Dak Lak province) had already begun cultivating coffee, using special harvesting and processing methods, such as only picking ripe cherries, crushing the harvested cherries, drying them in the sun for seven days, and fermenting them before roasting… But no Ede person had thought about running a systematic coffee business. And this young man, born in 1988, is the first Ede person to open a business roasting, processing, and exporting coffee.

“I just want to do something to increase the value of coffee beans, help people sell their coffee at higher prices, and make their lives less difficult thanks to the product they are so attached to. At the same time, I want to promote the traditional flavor of coffee and the coffee-drinking style of the Ede people to everyone,” Y Pot Nie shared.

With a product range of up to 10 items, from coffee beans and ground coffee to instant coffee, Ê Đê Café easily meets the diverse needs of customers across different price segments. Among them, the most outstanding is the smoky coffee line, roasted using the Ê Đê people's unique recipe, resulting in coffee beans with a rich smoky aroma and a subtly bitter, tangy, and alluringly sweet aftertaste.

“The roasting process determines the flavor of the coffee. Throughout the roasting process, it must be done evenly with a low flame to preserve the natural flavor that the coffee beans have absorbed from the essence of the earth and sky. Depending on taste and age, the resulting product can be dark brown or blackish-brown coffee at different temperatures. This is a coffee roasting formula I inherited from my ancestors and further improved. The smoky aroma mixed with the coffee scent creates a unique flavor,” the founder shared.

Linking production to increase the value of coffee.

His family owns 2 hectares of coffee plantations, so for Y Pốt Niê, coffee plants are an indispensable part of his life. He has been connected to coffee since childhood. Later, as an adult, he drinks coffee 4-5 times a day as a habit.

After graduating from Da Nang College of Medicine and Pharmacy, completing two years of specialized training, and working at several hospitals, Y Pot Nie never stopped thinking about the development of coffee cultivation. Outside of work, Y Pot Nie took the time to learn and practice the traditional coffee roasting and grinding methods of the Ede people, then gifted some to friends and sold it on social media. Unexpectedly, the product received enthusiastic support, leading him to decide to leave the medical field and establish Ede Café Co., Ltd. in 2019. He also registered the trademark "Ede Café" for his line of clean agricultural products with the Intellectual Property Office.

Initially, his family reacted strongly to his decision to change direction. Even the farmers in the Kla hamlet (Dray Sap commune, Krong Ana district) didn't trust the organic farming methods that Y Pot Nie pursued. They said he was involved in a "pyramid scheme," or even that he was "possessed by a demon.".

But the founder, born in the 1980s, never gave up. He accepted the high costs of promoting his coffee products at various trade fairs and exhibitions. In addition, Y Pốt Niê also improved his English skills to connect with business partners and promote his coffee products on foreign trading platforms.

In this way, the Ê Đê Café brand gradually gained a foothold in the market. The villagers no longer doubted his direction, but voluntarily cooperated to form a raw material area for processing organic coffee, without using chemical fertilizers or pesticides. To date, Y Pốt Niê has partnered with 50 households in the village to expand the raw material area to over 100 hectares of Robusta coffee. In 2024, the founder plans to strengthen the partnership and expand the cooperative area with farmers to 300-400 hectares.

From the farmers' perspective, thanks to the new farming methods, coffee yields have increased significantly compared to before, potentially reaching 4 tons/ha. Furthermore, by adhering to organic production processes, the quality of the coffee beans has improved, and Ê Đê Café purchases them at a price 5,000-10,000 VND/kg higher than the market price. A coffee-growing household, after cooperating with Y Pốt Niê, can increase their income by 25-50 million VND/year, depending on the area of land.

More importantly, from the success of Ede Café, many young people in the Ede community have learned and shifted their family's coffee farming model towards sustainability. "I hope that by learning new farming methods together, the Ede people will not only increase their income but also uphold their age-old coffee traditions, contributing to enhancing the prestige of Vietnamese coffee," Y Pot Nie shared.

Nie Ede Coffee offers an authentic coffee experience from the Central Highlands – where each coffee bean is carefully selected and roasted to preserve its natural flavor.

The fragrance is rich but not overpowering.

A balanced taste with a mild bitterness and a sweet aftertaste.

Pure, unadulterated, and flavorless.

Whether you prefer a rich, creamy latte or a pure black coffee, Nie Ede Coffee can win you over from the very first sip.

What makes it special?
